Attawheed Islamic Center (AIC), a tax-exempt non-profit organization (http://www.attawheed.org/school.html), is the largest Islamic center in the Pittsburgh metropolitan area. There are thousands of family members of AIC who are greatly benefiting from the social and educational programs conducted by the center. One of the most prominent programs at AIC is the Attawheed Weekend School (AWS) that offers multicultural educational programs by teaching Arabic Language, identity, character, communication skills, and Science Technology Engineering and Math (STEM) to students 5-18 years old. Attawheed Weekend School (AWS) was established in 2010 to mainly serve the western and southwestern Pittsburgh, PA suburban areas.
In the 2019-2020 school year, the school had more than 200 students. This year and despite the pandemic situation, the school continues to offer on-line classes conducted by more than 15 teachers. Some students are getting full or partial scholarships because of financial disadvantage.
